Hi!

I just started to wonder on which tracks did Tony Levin play on 'Momentary
Lapse Of Reason'? Did he tour with the band and do those two have any other
connections?

He didn't tour with the band, and I've no idea what tracks he is on
specifically. Don't think there are any other connections either.

He definitely played on the title track. His signature Chapman stick is
clearly audible. Poss. on "On the Turning Away" also.

Connections? How's about:

Levin is Peter Gabriel's regular session bass player. Gabriel is friends
with Kate Bush and she was Gilmour's protege (see also Bush backing vox on
"Once" by Roy Harper).
Levin is ex-King Crimson. Robert Fripp played on several Bowie albums and
Kate Bush did backing vox for "Absolute Beginners". (see Bush connection
above).
Levin played with Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe. Rick Wakeman played keys
for Bowie on Hunky Dory (see Bowie connection above).
Bill Bruford played with Genesis (live) for a few stints after Gabriel left
(see Yes, King Crimson above).

I'm sure there are more.

I'm also pretty sure they did tour with Levin for a few early dates on the
AMLOR tour. I have a poster of a concert with a tall, bald bass player who
clearly isn't Guy Pratt,

Never heard of that. Levin played live once with DG and once with RW,
but AFAIK never with PF.

You may be right - I've done some web checking and can't find anything to
support my statement. But the poster (it's in the UK now - I live overseas)
definitely wasn't of Guy Pratt. Perhaps it was Gilmour solo with Levin. This
is 13 years ago so my memory is clouded.

There is no title track on this album. In fact, the only PF albums having a
title track are; ASOS, AHM, WYWH.and TFC.

And OBC (unless you mean because the song isn't titled "Obscured by
Clouds -- Music From *La Vallee*").

Yeah, that's what I meant; title track has same title as the album itself.
Is it not true?

My mistake - "One Slip" is the one. I must have blacked it out of my memory
as it's so shit.

Quibble time.
"More Blues" featured on the "More" soundtrack.
Also, you forgot the terribly underrated "Obscured By Clouds."

No. I was right for this one. 'More' and 'More Blues' are not exactly the
same titles, so, the latest one is not a title track.

You're right for this one. Though I own OBC, I don't know the songs titles
by heart for this album, and, as a matter of fact, didn't remember that
there was a title track on this one too. I also agree with you that it is
terribly underrated; it's still better that Division Bell, Momentary Lapse
of Reason, The Final Cut, A Saucerfull of Secrets and The Piper At The Gates
Of Dawn.

I'll agree here, with the exception of three songs on ASOS, those being
"Set The Controls...," "Jugband Blues," and definitely the title track
itself, which is sublime.

Don't forget that Robert Fripp played on Peter Gabriel albums, too. Even
produced PG II.

By connections I meant earlier songs played together with PF or solo
projects.

"We live in an age of music for people who don't like music.
The record industry discovered some time ago that there aren't
that many people who actually like music. For a lot of people,
music's annoying, or at the very least they don't need it.
They discovered if they could sell music to a lot of those
people, they could sell a lot more records."
